A WIP

Left: Movie/Animated Stanley Ipkiss (the one we grew up to love)
Right: Original Stanley Ipkiss (before turning into a total douche)

You decide guys, Fun-Loving Maniac or Homicidal Maniac

Enjoy!

I prefer the Stanley on the left. When I heard that the comics were ultra violent. I was glad they toned it down and went with cartoon violence for the movie, instead. :XD:

I myself prefer both. Can't really decide.
I think the producers, somehow, knew kids were going to watch the movie, so that's why they went with cartoon violence. I also loved the references of the original comics, specially the carnival one (in the comic, it's Lt. Kellaway who makes the balloons, and not Stanley as depicted in the film).

I prefer cartoon violence over regular violence, anyway.

The Tale of Two Stans.

The comic book one was in no way admirable -- but his story did show how dangerous the Mask can be.

As much as I push the comic book as the real original, I gotta admit I'd much prefer the much toned down Stanley in the cartoon.

:XD: Yeah, I know. Stanley turned into a total ass after using the Mask for the first time. The comic itself was not "the bomb", but entertaining and quite violent (I liked it, too bad comic Stanley dies at the end, murdered by (Mask)Katherine).

Jim Carrey did a good job on developing the Stanley we love nowadays, pushing the original one to (almost) oblivion. However, if someone makes a reboot (making it loyal to the comics), I'd so go to watch it.

I mean even though I enjoy the cartoon more, the comic does cater to my sadistic sense of humor ... I just didn't like Stanley that much in it.
